Y2K began more than three decades ago in Meerut, with humble beginnings and one simple promise: a zipper should never let you down. Today our zippers run through jackets, jeans, bags and luggage that carry names you know. You won’t find Y2K on the label. You’ll feel it every time you pull.

Brands are built one detail at a time. We make the detail that never lets go.

Anatomy of a Y2K zipper

Six parts. One perfect pull.

  1. TapePolyester tape, white or dyed to your shade.
  2. TeethPolyester monofilament coil, metal teeth in copper alloy, or moulded POM elements.
  3. Top stopsHold the slider at the top of the chain.
  4. SliderZinc alloy, painted or electroplated.
  5. PullerMetal, or coloured TPU.
  6. Bottom stop · Box & pinA fixed stop for close end, a box and pin for open end.

Every part is certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, Product Class I, the strictest class, made for baby articles.

The Y2K pull test

Pulled. Loaded. Proven.

If a zipper carries the Y2K mark, it has already been through the hard part. We test to the methods of BS 3084, the British Standard for zips: the tape is loaded from both sides and that load stays on while the slider runs open and closed, cycle after cycle. The standard asks for 500 cycles. We never test below 5,000. Every range is tested to its limits before it reaches a brand.
